For centuries, we’ve tried to understand the brain as a machine, a kind of biological computer. Yet the deeper we look, the more it begins to resemble not circuitry but symphony. New science and ancient wisdom converge on one breathtaking idea: consciousness is not stored, but sustained, a living vibration resonating through you, the world, and beyond.
“Your brain does not contain awareness like water in a cup; it sustains it like a song being played.”
Robert Burns,
For generations, the brain was viewed from an engineering perspective, neurons as transistors, impulses as circuits, and the mind as a predictable outcome of electrical computation.
It was an elegant idea that fit an era defined by machinery and reason. This view helped scientists and thinkers understand and study the brain through the principles of physics and engineering, leading to many advances in neuroscience. However, over time, this mechanical perspective has been challenged by new discoveries, showing the brain’s complex, adaptable, and sometimes unpredictable nature, which simple circuit models cannot fully explain.
But as the field of neuroscience advances and our understanding deepens, a new perspective begins to take shape, one that moves away from traditional models based solely on logic gates, toward a more holistic view rooted in resonance and interconnectedness.
Inside your brain, energy fields ebb and flow with an exquisite rhythm, much like the gentle undulation of waves on a calm sea. These oscillations, complex patterns of frequency that ripple through brain tissue, are not merely random electrical activities. Instead, they form a symphony of brain waves, orchestrating the very essence of your consciousness. These rhythmic patterns enable different parts of your brain to communicate seamlessly, creating the unified experience of thought, emotion, and awareness. In this way, the brain’s electrical oscillations serve as the music of consciousness, harmonising the disparate elements of your mind into a coherent whole.
When the waves fall into harmony, awareness arises.
When coherence fades, consciousness dims, as in sleep or under anaesthesia.
Consciousness may not be merely an attribute or possession that you carry around. Instead, it might be better understood as a state of being, something you inherently are, especially when you are in harmony, vibrating in tune with the universe around you. This perspective suggests that consciousness is dynamic and fluid, manifesting in moments when your inner state aligns with the larger universe, rather than as a static property you possess.
Consciousness is not a fixed state but a vibrant rhythm, a song the universe plays through you.
Think of yourself as an instrument of the cosmos. Your thoughts are notes, your emotions are harmonics. When the inner orchestra aligns, when frequencies flow together, you feel peace, clarity, connection.
When they clash, you experience discord: anxiety, confusion, fragmentation.
Mental health, in this model, is not solely about chemistry. It’s about coherence, the skill of aligning your own frequencies into harmony.
Your consciousness extends beyond your skin.
Every thought and emotion radiates through electromagnetic fields that reach beyond your body. These fields blend and interact with people, places, and the earth itself.
What the ancients called spirit, chi, or prana may very well describe the same energy field that science now detects. When your inner state aligns with these broader rhythms, you feel a connection, a sense of belonging to something vast, intelligent, and alive.
“The mystic and the physicist are beginning to describe the same thing, vibration, coherence, and the field of awareness itself.”
Focus is on frequency alignment.
When you intentionally direct your attention, you alter your brain’s resonance pattern. Just as one tuning fork can cause another to vibrate across a room, a coherent mind can influence the energy fields around it.
This is the science behind meditation, prayer, artistic flow, and even Cellular Intelligence Therapy (CIT). These practices don’t just relax you, they retune you, restoring harmony between the many layers of your being.
From this viewpoint, illness is dissonance, a disturbance in the vibrational field. Healing is not just the replacement of faulty parts, but the restoration of harmony.
Energy-based modalities, breathwork, hypnotherapy, sound therapy, CIT, might be effective because they restore coherence, enabling the body’s natural intelligence to realign and heal.
“The body is not a machine to fix; it is a field to be tuned.”
If consciousness is energy, death may not be its final act. When the brain ceases to function, the intricate patterns and neural networks that give rise to your sense of self might simply dissipate into the vast, unbounded field of energy that pervades the universe. Just as the echo of a bell gradually fades into silence yet continues to exist in a different form, your consciousness could transcend physical death, merging with the universal energy and persisting beyond the confines of the body. This perspective views life and death as a continuous spectrum, where consciousness is not extinguished but transformed, flowing endlessly through the fabric of existence.
From this perspective, the ideas of life and death are not seen as opposite forces but as different states along a continuous spectrum of frequency.
The wave, symbolising this spectrum, shifts its form, pattern, and appearance without changing its fundamental essence or intrinsic nature. This concept indicates that transitions between life and death are simply shifts in the wave’s form, not alterations in the underlying reality.
This thought suggests that a single idea or mental event isn’t necessarily stored as static data in our brains, but rather is a transient wave that moves through our consciousness. Memory then functions as the residual echo of these waves, lingering long after the initial thought has passed. Imagination, on the other hand, can be thought of as the interference pattern created when new waves, representing fresh ideas and sensations, interact with existing ones, blending and reshaping our mental landscape. Ultimately, creativity is depicted as the process of tuning into unseen and unheard frequencies, parts of the mental spectrum that haven’t yet been experienced or explored, allowing us to access novel ideas and insights that lie beyond our current awareness.
This statement suggests a shift in perspective from viewing the mind as a separate observer to understanding it as an integral part of the universe. Instead of thinking of the brain as a detached observer of the world, it implies that the brain itself is a conduit through which the universe perceives and understands itself. In this view, consciousness isn’t separate from the world but is the world itself experiencing and reflecting upon its own existence.
This perspective encourages a more interconnected understanding of reality, where the boundaries between observer and observed dissolve, emphasising the unity of consciousness and the universe.
Close your eyes and listen.
Your heartbeat resonates with the Earth’s magnetic pulse. Your breath moves in tune with the tides.
Your atoms vibrate with the same energy that ignites in the stars.
You are not apart from the universe; you are its resonance, made conscious for a while.
“You are one note in the grand symphony of existence. Your task is not to master the song, but to remember you are part of it.”
